General information in English

The Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg Marl/Haltern is a vocational upper secondary school situated in the northern part of the Ruhr area.
The school’s main tasks are first a vocational education. Our students also gain professional, social and personal competences and are prepared for lifelong learning.
As a school, we are committed to supporting openness, tolerance and cultural diversity.

Each year more than 3000 students are taught in various fields:

  • natural sciences (chemistry; biology; physics)
  • technology (environmental technology; electrical engineering; IT)
  • social sciences (education; nursing; healthcare)
  • nutrition (home economics; service)
  • economics and administration
  • print and media

We offer general, vocational and university entrance qualifications. Thus, our students are prepared for further studies and the job market to participate in increasingly international economic and social developments and to actively help shape them.

Moreover, one focus of the HBBK is the European labour market. Due to the school’s European network students have the opportunity to undergo sponsored internships in various international companies in countries such as Great Britain, Ireland, France, Norway, Malta, Poland, Spain or Sweden.

Another main task to enhance the European idea at the HBBK is to improve and strengthen our staff skills. For this reason, scholarships are offered to carry out job shadowing in European companies and at various international schools.
